Textos de catálogo

Texto del catálogo de la exposición en la Casa Argentina en Israel Tierra Santa, Buenos Aires del 3 al 27 de junio de 1997.

Certain prudishness in nature
hinders a safe approach to
newborn birds.
Some emblems
shamelessly retain
The idea of flying.

...and each time the vision of an
imprisioned bird has been painfull.

If the distant eye hushed up
The bars...

...its cry is the universal echo of
orphanhood.

it is the nostalgia of that horizon
Which has not been desired enough

Artists love in birds their perspective, their distance, their return...
they fear their fragility, their fatigue... their death.

Edith Matzen Hirsch returns to this image. She performs the ritual of migration present in her Imprisioned series, and comes back decided to restore the symbol.

The preeminence of repetition
underlies the evidence of
technical reproduction.
The color, the structure and the
organic law of the series exceed
perceptive pleasure.
Stretching dimensions,
multiplying the motif,
inscribing an hallucinated eye,
decoding the number.
Expressing impotence,
imprinting duration,
subjectivizing the body’s dimension
eliding confinement.

The soul redeems itself through an act of sublimation which unfolds its images... some will be free.
